Opal “Evon” Simmons went home to her Savior on April 15, 2019. Evon was born April 24, 1938 in Shannon County, Missouri to Philip & Frances Jordan. The family was raised around Bunker, MO where Evon was the fifth child in a family of 12 children.

She was introduced to the love of her life, Wayne Simmons, by her sister Marie. She & Wayne exchanged letters while Wayne was serving in the United States Army and they were married August 27, 1955.

Evon was loved by everyone she met. She had a witty, caring and generous heart. She loved the Lord and served Him alongside Wayne for many years in many churches. She was a well-respected Pastor's wife. Evon was a very hard worker and had a very strong work ethic. She held many jobs throughout the years and finally Walmart where she retired in 2012 after being with them for 25 years.

She loved to cook, sew and travel. Her favorite hobby was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was playful and kind and patient with them and would love to make up stories to tell them. Although she was passionate about traveling with her family she was most proud that she was able to treat her daughters and their husbands to a cruise in March 2014.
