Shirley Dolores Lero, 84, of Grandview, MO passed away October 2, 2018, in Kansas City. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Tuesday, October 9 at McGilley & George Funeral Home, 12913 Grandview Rd. Grandview. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, October 10 at Coronation of Our Lady, 13000 Bennington Ave. Grandview. Burial will be the same day at 2:30 pm in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, St. Paul, KS.
Shirley Lero was born in Brookfield, MO, to Leland and Magdalena McNamara January 9, 1934. After graduating from High School, she went on to study nursing. Prior to finishing her nursing degree, Shirley met and married Francis Lero at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Independence, MO, on October 15, 1955. She became a wife and mother caring for their six children. Shirley worked at Coronation of Our Lady for several years after her children had left home. Shirley loved bowling, reading, sewing, crafts, and cooking.
Shirley is preceded in death by her loving husband, Francis Lero; her parents, Leland and Magdalena McNamara; and brothers Harold and John McNamara. Shirley is survived by her children, Christine Lero, Joyce and Arthur Schirmer, Patrick and Julie Lero, Dolores Hoffman, Theresa Lero, and Stephen and Sherri Lero; sister Diane O’Connell; brother, Pat McNamara; grandchildren, Jacob, Matthew and Sara Lero, Anthony and Dana Lero, Megan and Ben Brockhoff, Brandon and Kara Phillips, Sarah Hoffman, Jessica and Gregory Keyser, Kimberly and Gregory Walters, Taylor Wright, Tyler and Christi Lero, and Joseph Smith; and her great-grandchildren, Isaac, Wren, Ryker, Ethan, Dominic, Alexis, Lena, LillyAnne and Frances.
