Al was preceded in death by Doris, his wife of 65 years, his parents and two siblings.
He will be lovingly missed by his daughter, Laurie Wheeler; grandchildren Rick (Heather) Wheeler, Laureen (Darren) Wheeler; great-grandchildren Colten, Blake, Maibelle; and several nieces and nephews.
Al loved sports, food and spending time with his family and friends. He told great family stories that live to this day.
The family wishes to express special thanks to all the nurses and staff of Metro Health Hospital for their loving and compassionate care.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet Al's family at 12 PM Saturday, December 22 at the cemetery chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Al to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.
