I will miss the services but have very fond memories of always being at your house hanging out with Bruce and Brian.  My heartfelt condolences to you all.  My favorite Aunt Wilma and Uncle Al.  Also favorite cousins, Bruce and Brian.

Al was a wonderful man.   He was funny and caring and thoughtful.    He will be greatly missed

Aunt Wilma,  we mourn with you the passing of Uncle Al but rejoice that he has entered his eternal rest.   May the peace that passes all understanding cloak you with comfort in these coming days.

We shall cherish the memories of those few times where our lives and Uncle Al’s intersected if only briefly. They were certainly not often enough. 

The influence and legacy of Uncle Al’s life will no doubt continue to be felt in many ways unknown.  For us it was his gift of compiling our family history which has provided us with the inspiration to continue that work.

And we must mention a special gift from Uncle Al during the time of our 2019 family reunion  – a pencil holder made by him from two types of wood – we love it!

To Aunt Wilma and my cousins, I have very fond memories of spending time with all of you when we were younger. Do you remember the night we decided to climb the apple tree and fling the apples off of sticks at each other? Even though I got hit in the eye with one, I still think of it as a good memory lol. Uncle Albert was always so kind hearted, gentle, warm and loving, always with that big ole smile on his kind face! I'll never forget Grandma's funeral and how I cried my eyes out and Uncle Albert came up to me with tears in his eyes and simply said, you loved her too didn't you 🥰. Thinking of all of you now with sadness in my heart and also great joy knowing that he is now up in heaven with our Saviour and waiting for us! My heart goes out to you all along with my prayers. I love you all of you!

Your Dad was such a joy to be with and around.
My parents and a siblings very often gathered with your parents and siblings when we were all young. What I remember fondly of my Uncle Albert; someone pointed out already on his ever-present smile when around family. He also always made us feel welcome and valued. And that our time together was a treasure, to both Aunt Wilma and Uncle Albert. So I take a moment and mention this, because I just want to make sure Aunt Wilma knows I appreciate them much. An our friendships did not end after us kids grew up, because very often I would go visit Dad & Mom, and they would be there!  So, of course I was blessed to visit with them a bit too! 
They really spent a lot of time together.
It was always such a treat to see that, 
and to visit with them! 
The last i saw you both, 
Aunt Wilma & Uncle Albert, was for a very special time at a restaurant in Byron Center, so that we would all have opportunity to visit with Joel & Janice Whitaker a couple years back! 
While there, Uncle Albert gave us an update on his work with Grandpa's heritage!

When I think of Uncle Al I think of this "adult" who became a kind, gentle soul, but I smile when I think back to a time when that gentle nature hadn't emerged quite yet!  It was summertime and I was 6 years old , spending a couple of days with grandma and grandpa Z.  I was sitting in the kitchen while grandma was stirring a pot of soup, and suddenly we both heard my two uncles, Albert and Alfred, chasing each other around the house - from  the living room to the dining room and back again, tipping over a few chairs in the process. Yelling and cussing eaching out, it sounded like they'd soon be in fisticuffs.  They were 16 at the time [this was in Jenison, I think], and of course they could do serious damage to each other. Anyway, grandma ran into the dining room, yelled at "the boys" to cut it out, or they'd be in BIG trouble. I believed she meant it - and apparently my uncles believed so too, since their fight came a halt. I can't recall what happened next, but I couldn't help but enjoy the momentary excitement. I've reminded both of them of the incident many years later - they didn't remember the specifics, but they confessed that - whatever I witnessed that day - that was by no means the only time they'd ever gotten cross-wise with each other.  Of courwe .  . they were just be normal teenage, testosterone-charged  teenagers!

Very sorry to hear about uncle Albert.
It seems we've grown so far apart.

My fondest memory of Grandpa Albert was up at deer camp in the Upper Peninsula. Grandpa, my brother and I were up late sitting around the campfire. All of a sudden we were gifted with the northern lights followed by wolf howling. It was an amazing experience that I will cherish forever.

Dear Aunt Wilma,  Cheri (Jim) Plenda, Glenn (Jenn) Zandstra, Doreen (Joe) Golden, Bruce (Jill) Zandstra, Bryan (Cindy) Zandstra, Sara (Todd) Hower, I am so sorry for your loss. Uncle Albert was a very kind and loving man and had such a gentle spirit. I remember he always had a smile on his face and he will be very much missed. I pray the Lord gives you comfort and peace in the knowledge we will all be together again!
