On Wednesday, September 14, 2022, Andrew Alan Kozal (Andy) passed away at the age of 57. Andy is survived by his wife, Connie Knowlton-Kozal; children Matthew Kuipers, Catherine Kuipers (daughter-in-law), Kayla Kozal, Andrea Gill, and Ethan Gill (son-in-law); grandchildren Elizabeth and Abigail; five nieces and nephews (their spouses and children) Sara Zallar, Matthew Johnson, Diana Wyrdwell, Stephen Kozal, Jennifer Kozal; mother-in-law, Jacqueline Knowlton; brother-in-law, Scott Knowlton; and dear friends Jeff Ellis, Stacy Ellis, Dan Croll, and too many others to mention.
Andy was a light in many lives whether you knew him from coaching his daughter’s soccer teams, his beautiful tile work, delicious meals, or the regular weekend campfires. He lived with passion every day and has passed that along to everyone he knew. Andy was a charismatic photogenic person who could put a smile on anyone’s face. Whether it was his laugh or the jokes he would share numerous times, Andy brightened your day.
Connie was the love of Andy’s life. Through the many shared memories of camping on the weekends, traveling with friends, or cheering on the Michigan Wolverines he will be deeply missed. He passed along his deep love of music to his family which includes various 80’s one-hit wonders and music from the Outer Vibe. Andy could be counted on to help those around him but rarely asked for help himself. He will be remembered as the flamingo guy going as far as to wear flamingo button-ups and have a flamingo cover on his golf clubs.
A celebration of his life will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2022, at Cook Funeral Home (West building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, Michigan. In loving memory of Andy and in lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to donate to Michele’s Rescue in his honor. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com.
