Dear Bob, Pat, and family, I just read the GR Press online and was shocked to read of Andy's death. I express my sympathies to you and all your extended family. I will talk to my parents tonight to find out details. I didn't know Andy other than to see him in church when I was in Michigan and always enjoyed seeing him interact with people. Dear Bob, Pat, and family, Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I graduated with Andy and worked with him a lot through connections at south. He was truly an awesome man of God and he taught me many lessons about what is important in life. I will never forget Andy's sense of humor and I will always remember that he loved the white caps!! I do not think there was a time when I didn't see Andy smiling. He was always full of cheer and could cheer anyone else up with his great smile and kind words. Andy has been a blessing and I praise God for placing him in my life. He will not be forgotten. I know that he is dancing up in heaven with that huge smile on his face!! God Bless You!! Dear Stuitje Family, I want to extend our family's heartfelt sympathy to you in the going home of Andy, your son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and a wonderful friend to many. I am sure you know he touched many lives in ways that will not be forgotten. He was a classmate and friend to our son Nick at Byron Center Christian and South Christian for 13 years. The time they shared in the classroom, on the playground and in high school esp at the football and baseball games will remain a special memory for many reasons. Nick and Andy were in the same 'Circle of Friends' in Mrs. Nagel's 5th grade class. Nick has an entry in his 5th grade journal, dated 5/10/93 entitled "ANDY." In that entry he writes: "Andy is a fun kid...this class would be dull without him...you get to do special things with him in the circle of friends...he knows my name, first and last..Andy changed a lot of my life." Andy was the most enthusiastic fan at the baseball and football games at SCHS. I remember him doing those pushups at the football games when the team made a touchdown, when they were seniors, all the way to the Silver Dome. He was often at the JV and Varsity baseball games cheering on John B, Nick and cousin Rick to win the game. Andy came to a Hope football game last fall and again cheered on his classmates from South. We got a picture of Andy with the guys and it is a 'Kodak moment' of his loyal friendship. His enthusiasm and love of sports and friends was such a joy to see. He is now with his Lord and Savior with a new body, but I would imagine his enthusiasm and energy is still a part of him. We will always remember him with fondness and joy. Dear Bob, Pat, and family along with our sympathies we wanted to thank you for allowing Andy to touch our lives. Even though he was only here a short time he would constantly bring with him that joy and smile that lightened our kitchen every day. Time and again the staff here will ask how the young men and women that have been through here from South are doing, and one of the first they ask about is Andy. When our "job" pulled us in several directions at the same time Andy would walk in, smile, shake a hand, or give a hug, and the whole day would turn around. In the short period of time I knew Andy I was deeply touched by his positive and optimistic outlook on life. He was always so happy and always so willing to help others.
