Ann Marie Sevic (Olszewski), beloved wife of William “Bill” Sevic Jr., cherished mother, and adored grandmother, peacefully passed away on July 26 at the age of 66. Ann Marie fought a courageous battle against bone marrow cancer, Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a precursor of leukemia. She endured every challenge and setback with inspiring resilience and unwavering courage; that was based on her faith in the Lord and love for her family.
Ann Marie was born to John and Christine (Ziebron) Olszewski on August 14, 1957 in Camden, New Jersey. She moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1961, from where her parents were originally. Ann Marie was the oldest of nine children, having six brothers and two sisters. She attended Osborn High School where she played field hockey, graduating in 1975.
At 20, Ann Marie moved to Jenison, Michigan with her family. In Jenison, she met her husband, Bill through their neighbor across the street. Bill and Ann Marie were married on October 20, 1984 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. They went on to raise their two amazing daughters in Jenison, where she still resided.
Ann Marie was a beacon of love, strength, and compassion. Her unwavering devotion to the Lord and her family was an inspiration to all who knew her. She found immense joy in creating a warm and loving home for her family. Taking after her mother, she enjoyed sewing and became an avid quilter, decorating and creating for her family, as well as for the local high school theater program and her church Holy Redeemer.
As a grandmother, Ann Marie was a source of endless love and support. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with laughter, stories, keepsakes from her sewing abilities and unconditional love.
The family would like to praise their thanks to Ann Marie’s medical teams, especially Dr. Erin Pettijohn from The Cancer and Hematology Centers and Dr. Rupin Shah and team from the Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinic at Corewell Health. In addition, thanks to the attending and fellow doctors, nurses, caretakers, and volunteers at Faith Hospice Care Facility at Trillium Woods.
Ann Marie was preceded in death by her parents John and Christine Olszewski; mother-in-law and father-in-law William Sr. and Harriet Sevic; sister-in-law, Jean Olszewski; her grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bill; children Jacqueline (Brad) Pnazek and Jessica Sevic; three grandchildren William, Eleanor, and Amelia Pnazek; siblings John (Jeanine) Olszewski, Gerard (Stacey) Olszewski, Charlie Olszewski (Karen Ferguson), Andy (Anne) Olszewski, Ray (Cheri) Olszewski, Rich Olszewski, Gina Olszewski, Patty (Scott) Horvath; siblings-in-law Kathy (Craig) Stone, Joanne (Mike) Ply, and Joe (Amy) Sevic; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Ann Marie will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love caring for her family and others with selfless kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. As she said in her last few days, she was “wealthier beyond wealth because of our family.”
A memorial visitation celebrating Ann Marie’s beautiful life will be held on Saturday, August 10 from 10 - 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 2700 Baldwin St. Jenison, Michigan, with Mass to follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
