ANDREWS (RIEMERSMA) Arlene Andrews, age 83, went home to be with her Lord, Friday, December 12, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Warren "Dale" Andrews; her siblings, John Riemersma, Nicholas Riemersma, Nelson Riemersma, Peter Reimersma and Betty Gastra. Arlene will be lovingly remembered by her children, Gail and Dan DePrekel, Doug and Vicky Andrews, Jim and Kerry Andrews; her six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her sisters, Margaret Heemstra, Julie Dice, Lee Stuckie; her brother- and sisters-in-law, Chet and Sal Andrews, Jan Andrews, Fannie Riemersma, Shirley Riemersma; and many nieces and nephews.
Arlene was a loving, caring person. She was always willing to take someone in if they needed a place to stay or some help getting on their feet and she never expected anything in return. Growing up on a farm instilled in her a strong work ethic that she passed on to her children. More than anything, she loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She retired from JC Penney after 25 years; they became like an extended family.
A time for relatives and friends to visit with Arlene's family will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Monday, December 15, at Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW (west building). Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, December 16, at Cook Memorial Chapel (east building). Interment will be at Pine Hill Cemetery.
In honor of Arlene, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Paws with a Cause. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guestbook online at www.cookcares.com.
