Barbara Jean Owen

OWEN (GREINKE) Barbara Jean Owen, age 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, May 17, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melton Owen; her grandson, John Paul Cervin; her siblings, Alvin Greinke, Joan Chipman, Florence Eisen; her step children, Margaret Massengil and Lionel "Bud" Owen; and her parents, William and Viola Greinke. Barbara will be lovingly remembered by her children, Kathy (Rick) Wolfe, Dennis (Lorna) Owen, Bonnie (Richard) Cervin, Julie Dykeman; her many grandchildren, step grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a volunteer for many years at Degage Ministries. Barb was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She was in the Holy Cross Red Hats Society and was known as the Official Pie and Cookie Baker for everyone. She also supported the National Alliance for Mentally Ill. Barb enjoyed reading, gardening, Bible Study, and traveling. Barb helped as a fund raiser for the Reister Foundation. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Monday at Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW (west building). Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, May 21, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1481 Baldwin St. in Jenison, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 AM. Rev. Dr. Scott Sommerfeld and Rev. William Wangelin will be officiating. Interment will be at Georgetown Cemetery.
