Betty Jean Barnes

Betty Barnes (Beurkens), age 91, longtime resident of Grandville, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday September 2, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ralph E. Barnes; parents John & Wilma Beurkens and brother John Beurkens. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Susan (Allan) Owens, Sandra (Richard) Nelson, Michael (Amy) Barnes, James (Janet) Barnes, Jeffrey (Tamara) Barnes; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; sister-in-law Mae Schuitema, and many nieces, nephews and the friends she made at American House in Jenison.

Betty enjoyed her 19 years working at Meijer Pharmacy in Jenison followed by another 19 years at Steenstra’s Royal Dutch Bakery. She retired at the young age of 87 and her pride and joy was always her family.

Visitation with the family will be held from 5-8pm on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Cook Funeral Home, 4235 Prairie St SW, Grandville, MI 49348.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1481 Baldwin St., Jenison, MI 49428 at 11am with visitation from 10-10:45am prior, with Pastor Adam Peck officiating. Betty will be laid to rest at Rosedale Memorial Park.
