Betty J. Counts (Sechrist)

COUNTS (SECHRIST) Betty J. Counts, age 93, went to be with her Lord, Friday, May 30, 2014. Born May 14, 1921, Beaver Falls, PA. Daughter of the late William and Bessie Sechrist. Graduate of Beaver Falls High School Class of 1939. Graduate of South Side Hospital School of Nursing, Pittsburgh PA in 1945. She was grateful that she had the honor and the privilege to have served her country during World War II as a 1st Lt. in the Army Nurse Corps in the Pacific Theatre- Australia for 2 A½ years. Betty had been employed in the office of the late Dr. James B. Jamison, at the former Medical Center and the Blair Nursing Home, Beaver Falls. She was a member of the Riverview United Methodist Church and a member of the Delta Alpha Class. Betty was also a former member of the Salvation Army Women's Auxillary and the Beaver Falls Garden Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rodney L. Counts in September 2012 and her brother Robert H. Sechrist. Survived by her son, Richard (JoAnn) Counts, Hudsonville MI, daughter, Suzette (Gary) Riley of Rock Hill SC, her grandchildren, Tanya (Robert) Speelman of Beaver Falls, Gary Hall of Raleigh NC, Mick (Amy) Counts of Jenison MI, Travis (Sophie) Counts of Midland TX, and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, June 5, at Cook Memorial Chapel in Grandville, MI 4235 Prairie St. SW (east building), with visitation prior to the service beginning at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Beaver Falls. In honor of Betty, contributions may be made to Fellowship Covenant Church, 1569 44th St., Hudsonville, MI 49426, Faith Hospice, 2100 Raybrook SE, Suite 300, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 or Riverview United Methodist Church, 1099 Darlington Rd.
