Beverly May Wicklander, age 82 of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully of natural causes June 30, 2025. Born June 1, 1943 in Muskegon, Michigan, Beverly's life was marked by her generosity and artistic talents. A devoted wife, mother, and sister, she leaves behind a legacy of love and creativity.
Beverly was a graduate of Fruitport High School, class of 1962, and she began her career at the Grand Haven courthouse. It was there she met her beloved husband, Paul B. Wicklander, whom she married on November 22, 1969, and remained devoted to until her passing.
Known for her giving nature, Beverly brought joy to others through her culinary delights, particularly during the holiday season when she baked fruitcakes, baklava, and intricately decorated Easter eggs to share with friends and family. Her artistic pursuits included oil painting, paper crafts, and sketching, which brought beauty to those around her.
Beverly was preceded in death by her sons William A. Farrar and Bruce T. Wicklander; brother, Bartlett Szejn; and brothers -in-law, William Budenbender and Gary Shannon. She is survived by her husband, Paul; daughter, Shelly A. (Jim) Welton; sister, Bernice Shannon; brothers Bradley (Sharon) Szejn and Brian (Rhonda) Szejn; sister, Bonnie (Ed Theinert) Budenbender; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2025 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, Michigan. Visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. at Lamont Cemetery, 48th Ave., Lamont, Michigan (directions will be provided). Beverly will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
