Bryan Joseph Hammond

Bryan was a warrior who fought a battle with ALS for two years. He passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side.

Bryan was an avid sports fan showing full support for the Michigan Wolverines and all pro-Detroit sports teams. He welcomed any conversation that centered around sports. Bryan was a devoted husband and father. His daughters were the apples of his eye and he could often be found playing games, throwing a ball, and reading with them. Bryan also loved family outings and appreciated taking mini vacations and traveling to Florida.

Bryan was born February 8, 1981 in St. Joseph, Michigan where he was active in sports and band as he grew up. He had many fond memories of camping with his family and grandparents as a child. He moved to the Grand Rapids area in 2002 to pursue an education in accounting. During that time, he met his future wife, Andrea. In June 2008, they had a beautiful destination wedding in Negril, Jamaica. While working at JP Morgan Chase, Bryan earned his Bachelor of Business with Accounting degree at Davenport University. In 2015, he worked at Overhead Door Company of Grand Rapids, until 2024, when his battle with ALS no longer allowed him to work.

Bryan is survived by his wife of 15 years, Andrea (Beer) Hammond; daughters Jade (10) and McKenzie (5); father and mother, Steven and Kathleen (Rickel); brothers Adam and Kyle; Bryan’s father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alan and Martha (Worthen) Beer; brother-in-law, Ryan (Sherry) Beer; and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by paternal and maternal grandparents and uncles.
