

Carol, age 72, passed away on Tuesday July 17, 2018 at home surrounded by family, after a short battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Lorene Heibel and brother, Ken Heibel.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years, George "Butch" Persons; her children Michele (Leo) Perez, and Barb (Joe) Keller; step-children Kathy (Jim) Ringnalda, Tom (Denise) Persons and Robin (Tom) Bentley; grandchildren Ciara, Elena and Dante Perez, Taylor, Jak and Jenna Keller, Danny (Erika) Brown, Andria (Dan) Lynema, Kaylee Ringnalda, Spencer and Megan Persons, Olivia and Sophia Bentley; great-grandchildren DaniLynn, Macy and Josie Brown, Vera and Beau Lynema. She is also survived by her siblings Theola Andrews, Lloyd and Marilyn Heibel, Joyce Meyerink, Donna Ahrens, Shirley and James Thurkettle, Patricia Cooley, Marilyn Dewey and Lorraine Olejniczak.
Carol retired from Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge after working more than 30 years as a legal secretary. She enjoyed boating with friends, snowmobiling in the U.P., playing Mahjong with the “girls,” trying her luck at different casinos, decorating for Christmas, playing with her grandkids, and the occasional trip with her sisters.
A Catholic funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday July 19, 2018 at St. Sebastian Church, 9408 Wilson Ave SW, Byron Center, with Msgr. Bill Duncan presiding. Viewing available starting at 9:30 am prior to the service. Relatives and friends may join the family from 5 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday July 18, 2018 for visitation at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th Street SW, Byron Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation or Faith Hospice in Carol’s name.
