

Carolyn Mae (Bishop) Steenstra, faithful servant of her Savior Jesus Christ, went to be with the Lord on July 29, 2016 at the age of 85. She joyously joins her husband Charles, parents, and numerous siblings in everlasting life. Carolyn loved God and his people, serving others as a teacher, mentor and friend. She worked and volunteered for many years in support services, having a special love for her developmentally disabled friends.
Carolyn’s gentleness and goodness will lovingly be remembered by her children, Charlie and Avis (VanHaveren) Steenstra, Tim and Pam (Paxton) Steenstra, Cherie and Cory Dykstra, Terry and Judy (VanOs) Steenstra; grandchildren, Lindsay and Matt VanKoevering, Ashley and Matt Myers, Emily and Drew Clay, Allison and Chaz Amidon, Andy Steenstra, Ben and Jenny Dykstra, Jennie and Nate Dykens, Nick and Carolyn Steenstra, Janelle and Mike McKinnon; nine great-grandchildren, and another due in October; brother-in-law, Stan DeHaan; sisters-in-law, Betty Bishop, Dorothy Bishop, Mary Steenstra, and Annette Vos.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, August 10, at the Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW (west building). A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Thursday, August 11, at the Cook Memorial Chapel (east building).
In honor of Carolyn’s faithful and supportive partnership with her husband in ministry, the family requests memorial contributions be designated to the Rev. Charles Steenstra Scholarship Fund at Calvin Theological Seminary. Entries to the Memory Book online at www.cookcares.com are welcomed.
