Connie DeYoung (Jensen), age 84 years of Jenison, gently passed through the gates of Heaven on Friday, December 27, 2024. She was lovingly received there by her beloved husband, Jim, and many relatives who preceded her. Connie was lovingly surrounded by family at the end, who sang songs and read Bible verses with her. It was well with her soul.
She leaves behind her daughters Pam Russell (Tim Martinez) and Amanda Moerdyk (Shane); along with grandchildren Candie Sentz (Dustin), Mason and Blake Moerdyk; and great-grandchildren Eliana and Lyla Palmer, and Maddie Sentz.
Connie was born in McBride, MI, and grew up in a loving family, attending Edmore school. She then moved to Grand Rapids, MI, where she attended college and met the love of her life, Jim DeYoung. They married and eventually settled into Jenison, MI, where they lived for the rest of their lives, raising their daughters and hosting endless pool parties at their house for extended family and friends. They were charter members of Georgetown United Methodist Church and dedicated a lot of their time there. Connie was an independent and spunky lady who always had a full calendar with her family and friends, and she will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2025. The family will receive visitors from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at Georgetown United Methodist Church, 2766 Baldwin St., Jenison, MI. If you would like to honor Connie, please consider a gift to Hunt for a Cure - targeting cystic fibrosis, 5698 22nd Ave., Hudsonville, MI 49426 or a charity of your choice.
