Cindy went home to meet her beloved Jesus on Sunday morning, September 3, 2023. Having lived a life marked by winsomeness and delight in her Savior, we trust her homegoing was filled with joy. In April of 1955, she entered the world in Minneapolis, MN as the third (and she'd say spunkiest) daughter of four born to Willy and Bernice Ahlquist. She spoke fondly of her years growing up at First Covenant Church and attending Minnehaha Academy. She met Dan, her best friend and husband of 47 years, while attending Wheaton College. They built a meaningful life together in Grand Rapids, MI. Cindy appreciated beauty in many forms. She loved music, gardening, and a well-turned phrase. Her days spent at Higgins Lake with her family were amongst her favorite. She was a cherished mentor and teacher, and a bright light to all who knew her. She is survived by husband, Dan; children Kate and Brett Wyss, Ben and Allison Ferwerda, and Zach Ferwerda; treasured grandchildren Paige, Maren, Will, Annie, Truett, Isaac, and Elin; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita and Vern Wigfield, Melanie Ahlquist, and Shelly and Arvid White.
A service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2023 in the Chapel at Ada Bible Church, 8899 Cascade Rd. SE, Ada, MI 49301. The family welcomes guests for a visitation prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m., as well as during a lunch immediately following. Memorials in Cindy's honor may be made to Wheaton College or Our Daily Bread Ministries. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com.
