Dale Keene Gaut passed away, surrounded by his family, Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the age of 72. Dale joyously walked into the arms of his Lord and Savior to be reunited in Heaven with his loving wife and soulmate of 31 years, Jacquelyn (Jackie) Gaut; father, Dell; mother, Marva; and daughter, Katelin Rae.
Dale touched so many lives. Everyone he met, and even some he didn’t, loved him. His positive outlook on life, loving heart, sense of humor, and unwavering faith made Dale an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
He will forever be remembered with love by his children Jen (Garry) MacLean, Kevin (Laurel) Gaut, Jenny (Jerry) Baas, Todd (Michelle) Johnson, Marcia (Lee) Walker; 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Dale loved being creative and working with his hands. He was an extremely talented artist who dabbled in many hobbies over the years. Painting, wood carving and drawing were a few of his interests. He once learned how to make a violin from start to finish. He had a beautiful singing voice and a great whistle. He loved music and could play the guitar, dulcimer, and harmonica, and was always wanting to learn more. You could usually hear Dale coming before you saw him because he was either singing or whistling a tune.
Along with Jackie, Dale was an active and devoted member of his church, Holy Cross Antiochian Orthodox Church. He considered his church more than just a community, they were family.
Dale proudly served for four years in the United States Air Force in California. When he returned to Michigan, he continued working for Meijer where he stayed for 40 years. He was able to retire in 2007, and enjoyed spending his time at home with Jackie.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Blodgett Hospital who so tirelessly and compassionately cared for Dale while he was there. We would also like to extend blessings and much love to Father Gregory and Father John as well as the whole church community of Holy Cross Antiochian Orthodox Church for their friendship, love, and comfort during this time.
Visitation and reading of the Psalms will take place from 3-8 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2021 at Holy Cross Antiochian Orthodox Church, 2828 Richmond St. NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021 with an hour of visitation prior at the church. Dale will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
In memory of Dale and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Cross Antiochian Orthodox Church. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com.
