David J. Masserang had three deep loves in his life: Jody, his soulmate and wife; Adysun, the apple of his eye and only child; and his lifelong passion for turning a wrench. David was one of eight children born to Richard and Sylvia Masserang, and it was his parents and two siblings who welcomed him home in Heaven on October 7, 2026.
Even as a young boy, David had an insatiable mechanical appetite for figuring out how engines worked and bringing them back to life. His determination carried him through a traumatic brain injury, requiring him to relearn skills, and ultimately led him to create a thriving business, My Auto Mechanic.
His hard working nature and mechanical skills were grand, but what he grew into is what will be missed the most. Everyday with David was a lesson in kindness, unconditional love, and protectiveness. He loved Jesus, those close to him, and his country.
He will be dearly missed by his wife; daughter; brothers Greg (Sharon) Masserang and Don Masserang; three sisters Sherry (Tim) Fellows, Debbie Alexander, and Mary (Greg Heeren); 17 nieces and nephews; 48 great-nieces and -nephews; his sweet Aunt Mary-Lou and her family; plus a tight-knit crew of wrench-turning friends.
His life will be celebrated Saturday, October 17, 2026, beginning at 10 a.m. with a memorial service starting at 11 a.m., at Grace Community Church, 3500 New Holland St., Hudsonville, MI 49426, with a luncheon immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a future educational fund for Adysun; contact the family for more details. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresgrandville.com in their guestbook online.
