Dale Mohr, aged 82, son of David and Alice Mohr passed into the arms of Jesus on July 1, 2017. He died of complications of COPD, in his home, where he wanted to be. He is now in his Heavenly home where he is completely healed. His family was so important to him and they are grieving his loss.
He is survived and sorely missed by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn (Bergmans), who loves him and was honored to care for him every day. He also leaves behind 3 sons and their families: David Jeffrey (Jeff) and Joy, David (Sarah), Jon, Ben, and Bayli; Nathan Berend (Nate) and Carol, Nathan and Jessica; and Timothy Dale (Tim) and Tracy, Elizabeth (Vincent) Musto and Rachael. He is also survived by his sister Lois Hall Wolfert, brother-in-law Herb Borst, sister-in-law Millie (Bob) Snyder, many cherished nephews and nieces, and Penny, their Golden Retriever.
He was a U of M grad, but an MSU fan—said he had fun in East Lansing but had to work hard in Ann Arbor at the School of Dentistry. He began a dental practice in Jenison, which grew as the community grew. He practiced there for 37 years and birthed 2 other dental practices. He felt called to public service and served on the Jenison Public School Board of Education, the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District Board, The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners, the US Selective Service Board and, most recently, the Georgetown Township Board as Supervisor. He helped start and enjoyed acting in the Jenison Community Theater. He proudly served in the US Army. He and Marilyn raised 5 puppies for Paws with a Cause. Dale will be remembered as a man of wisdom and integrity. He loved history, especially World War II and read dozens of books on the subject. He enjoyed vacationing with his family at Big Star Lake, Mexico, and on an Alaskan Cruise.
The family thanks Emmanuel Hospice for their kind, compassionate, and God-centered caring for Dale and all of them.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, July 7, 2017 at the Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie SW, Grandville. A time of visitation will be Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and for 1 hour prior to the service on Friday at the chapel.
