David Cornelius Van Zytveld

VAN ZYTVELD - David Cornelius Van Zytveld, age 81 of Byron Center, passed away April 17, 2016 from Acute Leukemia. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Esther (Hoitenga); children Joel (Julie) Van Zytveld and Rachel Keesee (Rick Keesee); grandchildren Nicolaas and Annika Van Zytveld and Forrest Keesee; and his sisters Constance Wiersma and Anne (Roger) Bouwman; sisters-in-law: Kay Hoitenga, Rose Kossen, Lois (Marv) Roelofs and many loving nieces and nephews.

After graduation from Grand Rapids Christian High School he served two years in the United States Army as a Medic. Upon conclusion of his military service he returned to attend Calvin College and The University of Michigan. Dave used his Masters of Social Work degree in a career at Wedgwood Christian Services. Continuing his desire to serve others in his retirement, he was a mentor in the KidsHope Program and a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society Road to Recovery Program. He was currently employed at Cardinal Health. Dave’s lifelong commitment to the care and service of others is witness to his love for his Savior Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the First Christian Reformed Church of Byron Center, 8541 Byron Center Avenue, with Pastor Tom Groelsema officiating. A time to visit with Dave’s family will be held from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center, 2067 84th St. S.W.
