

He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Agatha Cook; daughters Bridget Cadwallader, Kristen (Rich) Zieba; son, Dennis (Tammy) Cook; daughter, Michele Schmidt; grandchildren Kelly Barry, Elisha Barry, Lucas Barry, Hannah Fuller, Emma Fuller, Austin Cook, Macy Cook, Taylor Cox, Jordan Cox, Tyler Cox, Joslyn Smith, Brandon Smith; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Gary (Linda) Cook; sister, Coleen (Jeffrey) Hall; several nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and -nephews.
Dennis was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jodie Barry; mother, Suzanne Cook; and father, Alfred Cook.
Dennis was a proud Vietnam War veteran having served with the 11th Armored Cavalry and after the war distinguished himself as a Sergeant/Drill Instructor at Fort Dix and Princeton University in New Jersey. He received many military honors, including: two Purple Hearts, The Bronze Star, The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, US Army Commendation Medal, two Combat Infantry Badges, Vietnam Tet Offensive Commemorative Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Medal.
He loved being active, fishing, boating, bowling, and playing golf. He loved being a dad and papa. His favorite thing to do was to have his family and friends come over to his house to laugh and reminisce and enjoy his deck and pool that he so proudly built. He was and is truly loved and will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, October 30, 2025, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. and memorial service at 11 a.m., with a luncheon to follow at Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, Michigan, 49418.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.
