Dennis James Mazor was born in Chicago on January 26, 1951. He lived a generous and wonderful life before regrettably passing away on Sunday, November 2, 2025. In life, Dennis worked at State Farm as an auto adjuster for 28 years to provide for his loving family. His position there also gave him the opportunity to pioneer the Bike Rodeo Safety Course at Rosewood Elementary School, which became an annual event for many years. After his retirement, he continued to serve his community by volunteering for Meals on Wheels. He was an avid member of the Knights of Columbus at Holy Redeemer Church and found many ways to invest his time and give back. Whether it was manning the grill at church events, organizing holiday deliveries for those in need, or managing highway litter pick up, he always found a way to devote himself to those who needed it most. He ran ten years of blood drives and gave almost ten gallons of his own. He also ran the Tootsie Roll Drive for special kids and volunteered when his turn as an organizer had finished. His generosity truly knew no bounds.
Dennis enjoyed working with his hands, helping build bedrooms, refinishing antique furniture, and installing wood flooring. Another hobby of his was history, specifically entailing World War II, as his father was a member of the Red Ball Express. He had collected over 75 books about the War and many movies.
As a husband, Dennis was a warm and gentle man who loved his wife more than anything. He helped her parents as they aged, making sure they were comfortable and cared for. Dennis gave his caring heart to his two daughters, which they have adopted in their own lives, becoming two generous and kind women. Dennis provided his family with safe advice, a calm demeanor, and understanding, even when his daughters tested his patience, day in and day out.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Edward Mazor; mother, Julia Skupien Mazor; and sister, Carol Sbarboro. He leaves behind his wife, Ellie, to whom he was married for 42 loving years. He also leaves behind his daughter, Annie, and her husband Casey Wiseman; his youngest daughter, Sara Mazor; sister, Sandy, and her husband Bob Mitchard; brother, Jim; and his many wonderful nieces and nephews and their children.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Holy Redeemer Parish, 2700 Baldwin St., Jenison, Michigan. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels or the Knights of Columbus. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresgrandville.com in their guestbook online.
