We celebrate the life of Donald Jay Feyen, who was with us from July 28, 1945 to when he departed his home in Grandville, Michigan peacefully Thursday, March 3, 2022. Don was a friend to everyone and anyone who’d join him for a coffee and conversation - known for his approachability and open-hearted love and acceptance of others. He loved telling stories, singing along to country gospel music, making others laugh, and he could see the bright side in most any situation; he was a great example in that way.
He is remembered in love by his wife of 53 years, Anne (Wagenaar) Feyen; children Jesse (Callie) Feyen, Shani Feyen (Jeff Postma), and Mallory Feyen; grandchildren Hadley and Harper Feyen. He is also remembered by sisters Mary Feyen, Carol Baker, Phyllis Feyen, twin Donna (John) Postma, Evelyn (Jay) Rynbrandt; brother, Bill (Pat) Feyen; cherished in-law family John (Jan LaForge) Wagenaar, Ted (Helen Grove) Wagenaar, Marg (Steve) Blouw, and Alex (Kelli Komro) Wagenaar, Barb Wagenaar, Diane Mayberry; chosen family, Margaret Kamps; and many dear nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Elizabeth, and siblings Gerrit and Joan Kay Feyen.
He will be dearly missed by his family and numerous friends. His fondest moments were those spent with family and friends, and especially his wonderful granddaughters. He loved sports from high school on up to the pros, gardening, and telling a joke - regardless if it hit the target. We imagine he’s throwing softball pitches and running the bases in heaven, wearing a big smile, and hopefully making more consistent umpire calls than he did while here.
A Celebration of Life Event for Don Feyen has been scheduled for the afternoon of May 21, 2022 in the clubhouse at Covenant Park in Kentwood. The casual event will begin at 2 p.m. with an informal service at 2:30 p.m., and concluding by 5 p.m. We'll have coffee, tea, cookies, light snacks, and ice cream available throughout the afternoon, and we will end with a memorial softball game. Bring your glove and ball, or a camp chair if you'd like to watch.
The family welcomes memories and messages on their guestbook online at cookcaresgrandville.com.
