He will be remembered by his children John Scot Nelson and Robert Alan Nelson: grandchildren Aaron Michael Nelson and Rachel Ann Nelson; brother Jimmy Nelson; and extended Michigan family including several grandchildren which he loved each and every one like his own.
Donald loved his country and had a distinguished military career in the U.S. Air Force from October, 1952 to January, 1975. He was awarded the Purple Heart and other military awards. Additionally, he earned a PhD in Psychology. Donald was influential in many lives and will be missed.
Cremation has taken place and interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
