Don was one of my favorite people. Don never sugar coated anything that went on in his life. If he messed up or a family member did something wrong he always admitted it. I got to know Don and later his wife Martha through the Holy Redeemer golf league..Don always had something good to say about someone else.I admired the way he lived his life and tried to use his qualities in my own life. I never quite measured up but am determined to live the rest of my life in the ways he lived. I hope we will meet again someday in heaven and throw a big Christmas Party with Honey Baked Ham and those wonderful sausages. Then it is on to the first tee for a game of golf. I now have a saint to pray to in heaven..Take care of me Don and kick me if I do not measure up. Find a good spot for us in heaven, because if I ever get there, I want to spend my time with you. Pray for my Wolverines Don. My prayer is that God will watch over Martha and protect her till she can join you in heaven. Special family indeed. May you enjoy your new life Don in God's house.

Growing up in Adams township Don,s three young siblings greatly benefited from his kindness.   Playing ball in the front yard or basketball at Martin Schoolyard he taught us some of the fundamentals of the games.
     He also bought our first TV so that Mom could watch Arthur Godfrey and we could watch Howdy Dowdy and Kukla, Fran and Ollie on one of the three Detroit stations.  Also many trips to Corner Hamburg, Hot Dog Johns and White Hut were greatly appreciated. 
     After getting Married (the TV was moved to Don and Martha apt) Don would frequently be called on to help Max on several Moonlighting jobs The one that I can vividly remember is Don being called on to plaster the ceiling in Ms  Murphy's bathroom, which of course he had no experience doing.  I don't know how much he got paid for that but I am sure it was not enough.

     Life's lessons which Don gave to us were priceless so rest in peace Brother your journey is complete.

It was my pleasure to care for Don at American House. No words can ever express how much he meant to each and every one of us. He will truly be missed -  but my joy for him being made whole again far surpasses my sadness.

I remember a long time ago Don was the voice of God at a VBS program and when he spoke one of his young granddaughters said "hey, that's my grandpa," it was loud enough for everyone to year and have a good laugh and a fond memory.  He was a sweetheart of a man, loved by many.  Will miss you Don!
