To my beloved Aunt Dee. So many memories you leave me with... too many to list. Those amazing childhood songs... Ms. Polly, our walks to Baskin-n-Robbins, Yosemite Nat'l Park and Disney World in 1977. Your love was like my Mothers... so caring and nuturing. I'm so proud to be a Lachmann because of you.. your strong faith in our Lord, our Saviour and passion for sharing your faith with everyone you touch. You're an amazing women and I look forward to seeing you again in our eternal home someday! Love you Aunt Dee.

Thinking of my Aunt Dee brings back many, mostly childhood memories. Aunt Dee loved to read us books, and knew how to keep her nieces entertained. She always had plenty of love for all of us! When she visited MI we always walked up to the library in town and then followed up with Baskin and Robbins. Aunt Dee always shared her faith in Jesus Christ with us as kids too. She would sing and play the piano which inspired me to learn how to play too. I was blessed to stay a summer with Aunt Dee and Grandma Lachmann in Albuquerque one summer. Even though the time shared through our life together was limited Aunt Dee sure made great use of that time and she will forever have touched my heart!! I am so thankful I will see her again and everything will be perfect!! Praise God for sending His son! so I may be with my Aunt again!!

I had the privilege of serving with your mother in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) when I was Grand Rapids Zone president. I'll always remember your Mother's smiling face and vibrant, enthusiastic eyes. She loved Bible study and missions, and now serves God both day and night. Doris, who I came to know at Sunset Manor, had a keen intellect and was fun to talk with and to visit at Brookcrest. She and I both took the bone medicine Forteo for two years, and she taught me how to administer it to myself. Before that, I remember her energetically walking down the hall to the Sunset Cafe every morning to get a cup of coffee for a friend of hers, who had also been a teacher. She helped to start a Saturday afternoon get-together of residents in her Sunset Hallway that met in the Cafe. She gave them each a Red-hat Lady beaded small beaded purse that many of them still brought to that social hour, even after she went to Brookcrest and could no longer sit with them. Like Doris, they included all the new residents who moved into their hallway. Doris loved the colorful painting of autumn trees that she had in her Brookcrest cubicle. And her family gave her such a nice 90th birthday party in the private outdoor patio at Brookcrest. Her mind was much stronger than her body, although it must have been quite energetic in the years she was a teacher. I only knew her as a lady who had almost no appetite for food. And yet her body chugged on for 90 plus years, even after a debilitating stroke. Amazing! Doris loved people and will be remembered by so many.
