Doris Popma

On October 10, 2011 our beloved mother, Doris Lavern Popma passed away at the age of 81. Doris made a peaceful transition from her home in Hudsonville to her eternal destination with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our mother has longed to join Frank, her husband and soul mate of 50 years, since his passing 13 years ago. We rejoice with her as she completes her passage. Mom was an artistic soul with many talents including knitting, sewing and painting. She even made fishing poles and lures much to our Dad's delight! As a nature lover, one of her favorite pastimes was feeding and protecting the songbirds in her back yard.

She will be greatly missed by her children: Nancy and Bernie Schmidt of Hudsonville, Frank and Nora of Dorr, Dave and Debbie of Thompsons Station, TN, Barry and Kay of Byron Center, Marybeth Colman of Columbia, TN, Janet and Ken Posthuma of Grand Rapids, Brian and Laurie of Byron Center, and Laurie and Michael Labadie of Byron Center. She also leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons Kurt and Steven Popma Sr.

Visitation will be 4-7pm, Thursday October 13, 2011 at Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center, 2067 a?" 84th St. SW with a Wake Service beginning at 4 PM. Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 am Friday at Saint Sebastian Catholic Church, 9408 Wilson Ave. SW, Byron Center, Michigan.
