Dorothy Marie Carlson

CARLSON, Johnson, Dorothy Marie Carlson, age 92, of Sunset Retirement Home in Jenison, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Johnson. Surviving is her beloved husband of 65 years Rev. Chester Carlson, her brother Melvin and Phyllis Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas, her children Paul and Linda Carlson of Grand Rapids, David and Kathy Carlson of Franklin, Indiana, Ruth and George Bassett of Innsbrooke, Missouri. Grandchildren, Brett and Kiri Carlson, Erinn and Stephen Shales, Matt and Rebekah Carlson, Leif Carlson, Marten Carlson, Julie and Joe Morton, Jeff Bassett, and Linda Bassett. Great grandchildren Elisabeth, Maria and Noelle Shales and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was a dearly loved minister's wife and served with her husband in American Baptist Churches in Illinois, Nebraska, and Michigan. Prior to her marriage in 1943, she worked in the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago.

Funeral service will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Manor Chapel, 725 Baldwin St. in Jenison with Reverends Craig Swanson and Grady Jones officiating. Interment will be in Georgetown Cemetery.

A time for relatives and friends to visit with Dorothy's family will be Friday 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Jenison 1889 Baldwin and from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Manor Chapel.
