Dorothy Spencer

SPENCER - Dorothy Spencer (Grooters), age 95, went to be with her Lord, Friday, May 6, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband Lynn T. Spencer; two grandchildren; parents John and Ethel Grooters; two sisters Carol McFeely and Shirley Dykstra.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children Dorothy Langford, Carol (George) Mandigo, Bruce (Sue) Spencer, Douglas (Zayna) Spencer Joyce Hay, Terry (Traci Rasor) Spencer; 24 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; siblings Marian (Don) Turnbull, Marjorie Petruska, John “Warren” Grooters; brother-in-law Ed Dykstra; many nieces and nephews; and special friend and caretaker Dawn Kelly.

Dorothy was deep into genealogy, researching the Spencer name and had a love for sailing as a life member of the Muskegon Yacht Club.

Visitation with the family will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday May 10, 2016 at Cook Funeral Home (West Building), 4235 Prairie, S.W., Grandville, MI. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m, Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building). Interment will be at Rosedale Memorial Park.

In honor of Dorothy and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice.
