Earl L. Klyn, born to Simon and Ginny Klyn June 6, 1929, passed away May 24, 2022, in his home in Wyoming, Michigan. Earl was reunited with his wife, LaVonne, who preceded him in death. One of nine children, his sisters Marion Lough and Marilyn Galor survive. He was the father or father-in-law of Roger, Ron and his wife Michelle, and Randy - all who survive and reside in the Grand Rapids area. Earl had three grandchildren Kelly and her husband, Eric Juergensen; Liesa and her husband, Niall; and Kyle and his wife, Stephanie - who have blessed him with six great-grandchildren.
He retired from the Teamsters with an accident-free driving record while raising his family as a local truck driver. After that, he served as a repairman at the Villa Maria Nursing Home and served for a short period of time in customer service at Meijer during his retirement years. He took great pride in the restoration of his 1930 Model T Ford pickup truck, telling the story of how he “earned the right to wear a tuxedo.” He enjoyed entering his truck in local parades and car shows with his fondly remembered times spent as a member of The Grand A’s Classic Car Club.
Special thanks to We Care 4 U for assisting him over the past decade in support of his goal to remain in his home, with the help of the Kent County Senior Millage, Elders Helpers, Kindred Hospice, and West Michigan Hospice organizations. In lieu of floral gifts, the family asks that you consider a charitable gift to the Area Agency of Aging of West Michigan which supports Kent County seniors (https://www.aaawm.org/donate).
A private family service will be held. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guestbook online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com.
