

Edward Bruce Baker passed away on February 5, 2014 in Arcadia, Florida. He is survived by his children, Teresa Baker Easler (Bill Stevens), Dennis Baker (Jaine), Scott Baker (Julie), Linda Baker Juarez (Dirk Tepp), and John English; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Barbara Baker (Willard "Bill" Baker) and many nieces and nephews. Bruce was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Flo, his brother Bill, and sister Peg Freedman. He was a star football player at South High School and a decorated Korean War veteran.
He was a lifelong member of the Grand River Masonic Lodge, the Saladin Shrine, and the Saladin Shrine Chanters where Bruce got to share his love of singing and his beautiful baritone voice.
His other great loves, besides his family, were ice cream and the Wolverines. He was known for his integrity, being a man of his word, and his sense of humor. He will always be remembered as a fierce competitor on the gridiron, golf course, and at the card table. He taught many to value friends and family, and to do the right thing no matter what.
A celebration of life will be held at Georgetown United Methodist Church in Jenison, Michigan on Saturday, July 26 at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Saladin Shrine Foundations/The Shrine Hospital, 4200 Saladin Drive Grand Rapids, Mi 49546.
