Eleanor Jean Hillman

Eleanor Hillman, age 100 of Grand Rapids, Michigan passed away peacefully September 13, 2025, surrounded by loving family. Born August 14, 1925, in Grand Rapids, Eleanor was raised in Wyoming/Grandville. She spent most of her adult life working in the automotive industry, proudly dedicating over 30+ years to delivering excellent customer service at Stall Buick. Eleanor loved to travel, spending summers as a child with her father in St. Louis, and later in life spending many winters in Zephyrhills, Florida. It was there that she grew especially fond of the jam sessions in Betmar Acres, attending MLB spring training games, and enjoying the company of friends-turned-family from all over the country.

Her home was always open to friends and family, who would be greeted with a smile, good conversation, and whatever baseball game was available - particularly her Detroit Tigers. If any friends and family weren’t close enough to stop by, Eleanor was always sure to call, and without fail, send a birthday card. She made it a point to remind those she loved that they were important to her. Her 100 years were spent showering others with love, and in return, she was loved by so many who were by her side in her final days.

Eleanor is preceded in death by parents Catherine and Frank Stewart, and John and Pauline LaBan; husband, Eldon Hillman; late-in-life sweetheart, Charles Beardsley; son, David Hillman; and son-in-law, John Kasper. She will be deeply missed by her children Sharon, Richard (Susan), Mary (Robert), and Bruce; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and countless others she considered to be family.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2025 at Cook Memorial Chapel, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. prior to service.
