Elizabeth Van der Boon was born in the Netherlands on October 4, 1929 and married Joseph Katerberg in 1950; shortly after, they immigrated to the United States.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; son, Martin; as well as three sisters and one brother. She is survived by seven children Gretchen (Derk) Nyenhuis, Jack (Robin) Katerberg, John (Sue) Katerberg, Marie Meurer, Tim Katerberg, Randy (Jessica) Katerberg, Michelle (Todd) Hill; daughter-in-law, Wendy Katerberg; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Jan (Janny) Van der Boon; and sister, M.H. Van der Boon.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, Michigan, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Elizabeth, memorial contributions may be made to Sunset Legacy Foundation.
