Ellen is survived by her children Charles (Jeanne) Wood, Mimi Wood; grandchildren Casey, Alexander, Theodore, Annabel, Ada, and Chelsea; sisters Claire (Dennis) Naughton, Mary (Syd) Baxter, Jane (Bill) Digan, Laura (Gene) Makarin; many nieces, nephews, Kirkwood cousins, and friends.
Ellen was a member of the Grand Rapids Catholic Central class of 1959. She graduated from Aquinas College with honors and the University of Michigan with a masters in library science. Ellen worked in numerous library systems in the greater Grand Rapids area. She loved to read and bring her love of books to many others.
Interment will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2023 at Rosedale Memorial Park, 50 Lake Michigan Dr., Grand Rapids, MI 49544.
