

Esther LaVerne Van Zytveld, age 80, went to be with her Lord, on Palm Sunday, April 9, 2017. She died from complications of surgery.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Van Zytveld; parents, Dewey Sr. and Theresa (VanderMeer) Hoitenga; her brother, Dewey Hoitenga, Jr.; her sister, Kathleen and Ron Korthuis; and her brothers-in-law, Jay Kossen and Jay Wiersma. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Joel and Julie Van Zytveld, Rachel Keesee; her grandchildren, Nicolaas, Annika Van Zytveld, Forrest Keesee; her sisters, Rose Kossen, Lois and Marv Roelofs; her sisters-in-law, Kay Hoitenga, Constance Wiersma, Anne and Roger Bouwman; and many nieces and nephews.
Esther cherished her time with her grandkids. She enjoyed going to their sporting events and school functions. Esther served in many areas of her church throughout the years, quietly meeting the needs of the people around her with grace and diligence.
A time for relatives and friends to visit with Esther’s family will be held from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday at Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center, 2067 84th St. SW. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, April 13, at First Christian Reformed Church in Byron Center, 2450 – 85th St. SW, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 AM. Rev. Thomas Groelsema will officiate. Interment will be at Winchester Cemetery.
