Evelyn J. Acton

Born in Clarksville, Iowa to Leslie and Matilda Swick on August 11, 1917. She graduated from Clarksville High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Evelyn was a registered nurse, having practiced at several facilities in the Grand Rapids area, most recently at Brookcrest Nursing Home. She was a member of Resurrection Life Church and was very active in local school activities and fundraisers while her children attended Grandville schools. She was also a member of the Horseless Carriage Club of Grand Rapids for many years with her husband Donald. She was a loving mother who also was talented with arts and crafts.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Walter Kielhorn; and granddaughter Nicole Kielhorn.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Donald H. Acton; children, Lorenz Jill Kielhorn of Jackson, MI, Alden Connie Kielhorn of Kearneyn, NE, Lynda Jim DeGraaf of Jenison, MI, Dave Jackie Acton of Stillman Valley, IL, Don June Acton of Hudsonville, MI and Cheryl Acton of Thousand Oaks, CA; 22 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother Leonard Lucille Swick; sisters, Jeanette Lloyd Leyen, Lavola Wayne Rohlwing, all of Clarksville, IA.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Cook Memorial Chapel east building 4235 Prairie St. SW in Grandville.

The family will receive relatives and friends Monday 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home west building

Memorial contributions may be made to Tri-Unity Christian School or to the Charity Of One's Choice.
