
She was reunited in Heaven with her husband John DeYoung; parents Martin and Jennie Bouwman; sisters, Harriet Meidema, Georgia Breur, Margaret Stadt, and Julia Huisman; and daughter-in-law Mary Ellen DeYoung.
Florence will be lovingly remembered by her children, Martin Barbara DeYoung of Holland, Patricia Charles Stegehuis of Grandville, John “Ron” Judy DeYoung of Cadillac, Dr. Don Sally DeYoung of IN, Eddie Debra DeYoung of Grand Rapids, and Lori Ted Ball of OH; fourteen grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; brother-in-law George Breur of Lamont; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Before raising her family Florence worked as a nurse at Hackley Hospital.
She was a member of First Reformed Church of Grandville.
Florence’s interests included her love of family, wild flowers, music, and her special gift of writing poetry.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday 2 p.m. at the Cook Memorial Chapel 4235 Prairie St. SW - east building with Pastor Randy Weener officiating.
Interment will be in Grandville Cemetery.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Grandville west building.
Memorial contributions in Florence’s name may be made to the First Reformed Church of Grandville Scholarship Fund.
