Frederick W. Peters

Fred proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He married his high school sweetheart, Judy, on October 24, 1969. Together they raised three outstanding sons, Phill, Joe and Ben. Fred’s love of life ranged from enjoying astronomy and crossword puzzles to riding his Dyna Low Rider. He enjoyed the comfort of his front porch. He loved the solitude of his cottage on Bill’s Lake, and had a special love of music. Fred was a loyal fan of Notre Dame football. He was an electrician and a long time member of the UAW.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Phyllis Peters; mother-in-law, Stephanie McDonald; and sister-in-law Andrea McDonald. Fred will be dearly missed by his wife Judy; sons, Phillip, Joseph and Benjamin; brother and sisters, Marie Peters, Roberta Peters, Marian Peters, Patricia Gene Birdsall, Joseph Wendy Peters, and Kathleen Peters; his father and mother-in-law, Lewis and Beverly McDonald; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Maureen Ken Rutgers and Mary Scott Beckman; several loving nieces and nephews and many special friends who supported him throughout his life.

Fred’s family would like to thank Dr. Sobong and his nursing staff, the Blodgett nursing staff on 1-D, Lori from Porter Hills, and all of the staff from Hospice of Michigan.

The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 14, from the Cook Memorial Chapel east building 4235 Prairie St. SW in Grandville, with Rev. Tom Kragt from Evergreen Ministries officiating.

The family will meet with relatives and friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home west building and Monday, one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans or Hospice of Michigan.
