He will be deeply missed by his children Doreen (Greg) Flood of Hudsonville, MI, and Brian (Trudi) Baratono of Wyoming, MI; three grandsons; two great-grandchildren and one little blessing on the way; twin sisters Rene Carey of Kingsford, MI, and Ronna Baratono of Quinnesec, MI; and many extended family and friends.
Gabriel proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, where he earned two Purple Hearts. He worked nearly 30 years as a general foreman at a smelter in the copper mines in White Pine, MI. After retiring from the mines, he worked in ski rental in the Porcupine Mountains to be closer to his love, Doris. He and Doris loved living in Silver City, MI, until they moved down-state to be closer to family. Gabriel enjoyed gardening, spending time with family, and watching deer and bear cross their yard.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com.
