Gerald Lee Griffin Jr., age 55, went to be with his Lord Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Gerald L. and Judy Griffin and mother-in-law, Sally Thomas. He will be remembered by his wife, Jennifer T. Griffin; son, Brady H. Griffin; sister, Jennifer A. Griffin; and many family members and friends.
Jerry was born in Grand Rapids and attended Kelloggsville schools. It was there that he started playing electric guitar and started his never-ending love of music. In his junior year of high school, he transferred to and then graduated from Jenison High School. It was there, in chemistry class, that he sat behind his soon-to-be wife, Jennifer. They had just celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary on 10/10/2025. He always thoroughly enjoyed playing electric guitar--Eddie Van Halen being one of many favorite guitarists. While living in Texas, both he and Jennifer became firearms instructors. Jerry has always been a very patriotic person and loved his country. He was always the extremely proud father--coaching his son during his 13 years playing football and proud of Brady’s excellence in school and what he chose to pursue in college. He was always known for an outstanding memory with the ability to read something and immediately apply what he had just read. He always wanted to teach every little detail for the ladies in his wife’s women’s shooting groups.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will commence at date and time to be determined. In honor of Jerry and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Armed Women of America at www.armedwomen.org and Guitars 4 Vets at www.guitars4vets.org. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresgrandville.com in their guestbook online.
