Geraldine “Gerry” Mae Huizenga, age 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, September 18, 2023. Gerry was a quiet soul who loved to laugh and spend time with her family. She took pride in making a home for her family by cleaning, cooking, and always making sure her household was in order. Everyone who knew Gerry loved who she was and how she lived her life. Most importantly, she cherished her faith and spent a lot of time studying her Bible. She will be deeply missed.
Gerry will be lovingly remembered by her children Vivian Huizenga, Dixie (Jay) Dreyer, Carl (Kathy) Huizenga, Valerie (Hank) Kamphuis, Sharon Waalkes, John (Jeanine) Huizenga, Brent (Shannon) Huizenga; 25 grandchildren; siblings Harriet Piccard, Harvey (Laura) Veldhuis, Ron (Vicki) Veldhuis; numerous great-grandchildren, extended relatives and especially her best friend, Grace. Gerry was preceded in death by her husband, Berwyn Huizenga; grandson, Michael; parents John and Frances Veldhuis; and brothers-in-law Henry Piccard and Anthony Huizenga.
A funeral service celebrating Gerry’s life will be held 1 p.m. Monday, September 25, 2023 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418, with visitation from 12-12:45 p.m. prior to the service. In memory of Gerry and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith Christian School in Randolph, WI.
