On Wednesday, April 20, 2022, Gerrit “Glenn" Zylstra, was called to his heavenly home at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents Cornelius and Mary (Groenhof) Zylstra; wife, Bonnie Marie (Luyk) Zylstra. He is survived by his children Steven (Fanny) Zylstra, Bruce (Tracy) Zylstra, Mary Meyers (Tim Taggart); seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings John Zylstra and Marge Ryzenga; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Glenn was deeply loved by his entire family for his character and dry wit. He always had something to say to make you laugh. Glenn was a very humble man who was selfless, generous, reliable, hardworking, and frugal. He was very devoted to his wife and family - always doing whatever it took to help them succeed. In Bonnie’s final years, Glenn was her full-time caregiver. He especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Glenn was never attached to material things, but at one time in life he enjoyed playing an occasional game of golf. He will always be remembered for his warm personality and his sense of humor.
Visitation will be held from 3-4 p.m. with funeral services following at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. In honor of Glenn, and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Highway Connections, 6672 Center Industrial Dr., Jenison, MI 49428. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com.
