Gordon Lyle Carpenter

CARPENTER - Mr. Gordon Lyle Carpenter Sr., age 63 of Grand Rapids, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2000 and went to be with his Lord. He was a Police Officer and also a civilian dispatcher for 17 years with the Wyoming Police Department. He was preceded in death by his parents Harley Sr. and Lena and one brother, Harley Carpenter Jr. He is survived by his wife Diana; his children, Gail and David Rodgers, Gordon Carpenter Jr., Cheryl and Mark Van Malsen, Sandra and Jack Hamilton, Douglas Carpenter and his special friend Doug Bennett, Tamara Cruz, James and Jennifer Van Hattum, Cole and Melissa Todd; his grandchildren, Todd, Mike, Timothy, Zachery, Levi, Brian, Mark, Matthew, Elijah, Andrea, Jackalyn, Stephanie, Zachary, Mariah, Alexis, James Jr., Shelby, Alyssa, Amanda, Jeffrey; his first wife of 30 years, Ruth Brewer; father-in-law Ivan House; mother-in-law Elizabeth and Gabriel Guerrero; special sister-in-law Sandra House; one brother, Melvin Carpenter; Aunt Myrtle; and many cousins and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday 11 a.m. from St. Pius X Catholic Church please gather at the church. The family will meet relatives and friends Sunday 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday 7 to 9 p.m. from the Cook Funeral Home west building, 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville. Parish Rosary Service Monday 8:30 p.m. from the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be left to St. Pius X Catholic Church.
