September 1, 1944 – February 10, 2021
Gretchen Jean (Wessell) Friberg surrendered her battle with dementia and bid farewell to her children on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.
She is already missed by son Nick and daughter Lori and their amazing wives Demetria and Connie, respectively, who treated her as their own Mom for all the years they shared with her. Gretchen doted on her grandchildren Nicholas Hoezee, Alec Hoezee, Natalie Friberg and Elyse Friberg from the day they were born; all of whom will miss her dearly! Gretchen adored her brothers and sister-in-laws Tyrus and Kathy Wessell, Dave and Charmaine Wessell, Steve and Tana Wessell; her sister, Kim Wessell; and sister-in-law, Linda Hines-Wessell. Gretchen will miss her special nephews and nieces, all recipients of the stuffed animals she sewed!
Gretchen will be cremated and there are no plans for visitation or service at this time. Memorial contributions will be welcomed by Appledorn Assisted Living, 727 Apple Ave. Holland, MI 49423, to assist those in financial need with the special care provided.
Her family welcomes memories and messages online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com.

We remember meeting Gretchen in Saugatuck several times at your home. What a kind and gentle soul. She was always so friendly to us and easy to talk to. No surprise that Lori and Nick are her kids. Very sorry for your loss.
