OBITUARY

Helen Jean Bluhm

April 27, 1935June 1, 2021

Helen Jean Bluhm, age 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Duane Bluhm, and her son, Dave Bluhm.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children Jim (Ella) Bluhm, Margaret (Phil) Haveman, Harold Bluhm, Jerry Bluhm, Cheri Peterson; daughter-in-law, Sherry Bluhm; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and one little blessing on the way; and many extended family and friends.

The best way to describe Helen was to start with her “heart of gold.” She loved people and especially children of all ages. She cared for and coordinated nursery in her church at Maple Hill, but one of her greatest passions was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Throughout the years, she visited many of her friends in nursing homes, wrote letters and cards for all occasions, and made many new friends during those visits. She enjoyed her cats, birdwatching - especially hummingbirds - and just being with people. Most importantly, she loved her Lord, Jesus Christ, which she lived out through her favorite verse, John 14: 1-3.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Jenison Bible Church, 6360 14th Ave., Hudsonville, MI 49426 with visitation from 1 - 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Helen will be laid to rest next to Duane at Boynton Cemetery in Byron Center.

In memory of Helen and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jenison Bible Church - Missionary Fund. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com.

Aunt Helen was so sweet and kind to me. She always loved my notes catching up with what the kids were doing and missed hearing from my mom after she passed. I will miss her dearly. I am praying for all of you.

Helen was the Nursery Director at the first church I served as Sr. Pastor. All the kids loved her, including my two little ones. She was such a sweet-spirited person who gave a young pastor just starting out her full support. Her daughter, Cheryl, became very special to my wife and I. One of my best memories at Maple Hill United Brethren Church was the Sunday we prayed as a congregation for Duane Bluhm, who was Helen's unemployed husband in his 50's with a bad back that others would not hire. God had told me to bring Duane in the front of the congregation for prayer and he would get a job. Duane received a job offer that very week that he had not even applied for - PTL! For more than 35 years, Helen faithfully continued to send us Christmas Cards and letters to update us on our mutual friends from the church.

Prayers going out to Helens Family. I worked with Helen at Brill Cast in Wyoming Mi. She was always a sweet heart. I hadn't seen her since working with her, but did talk on the phone every so often and it was only a few weeks ago she called to tell me about her shoulder. I felt bad for her. I knew she was in pain with it. I pray she at piece RIP Helen Hope to meet with you in Heaven some day. You were a great friend.
