Herbert Wellington Brown, age 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 25, 2020. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 45 years, Beatrice Brown (Viveen); children Nick Brown and Leesa (Jim) Fotis; siblings Nancy Roberts of Manton, MI and James (Julie) Brown of Enterprise, AL; grandchildren Andrew, Lucas, and James Fotis, Preston and Jacob Brown.
Herb was a retired teacher, who dedicated his life to educating generations of children in Kenowa Hills Schools. He was also a district manager for the Grand Rapids Press, spending his nights ensuring that all would get their news. Herb obtained his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Western Michigan University and a master’s in education from Michigan State University. He had a lifelong passion for golf, fishing, collecting and filling multiple bookshelves with all the books he read and cherished. He will always be remembered by those who knew him for his animated storytelling - with the ability to bring history alive - and for being a lifelong learner who inspired and connected with everyone who was blessed to be in his life. He will be missed by many and loved forever.
Visitation will be held from 10 - 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, Michigan. A private funeral will follow. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Herb, contributions may be made to Mary Free Bed Foundation. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com.
