Howard Lee Veurink

Howard Veurink, age 79, went home to be with his Lord, Friday, January 13, 2012. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, mother- and father-in-law, his daughters, Victoria and Valerie; and his brother, Wayne Veurink.

Howard will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Ann Veurink (Holtz); his children, Tim (Pat) Veurink, Tammy (Greg) Kuipers, Tom (Linda) Veurink; his grandchildren, Katie (Matt) Baer, Sherri (Noah) Mensch, Jim Kuipers, Matt and Mollee Veurink; his four great grandchildren; and his siblings, Al (Margie) Veurink, Delores (Evert) Alton, Bob (Gloria) Veurink, Joyce (Fred) Hoekzema. He was the founder of Veurinks' RV Center and retired after 37 years. Howard loved to golf, fish and hunt. For 32 years he mentored a number of people who struggled with alcohol problems. He enjoyed his time in Aruba and Florida as well as at home with his family. Howard served in Korea in the US Army.

A time for relatives and friends to visit with Howard's family will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Sunday at Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center, 2067 84th St. SW. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday at Friendship Christian Reformed Church, 190 100th St SE. with visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 AM. Rev. Calvin Compagner will be officiating. In honor of Howard, contributions may be made to North Alano Club, 1020 College in Grand Rapids or West Michigan Youth for Christ.
