Ida Peternella Korf

Ida Peternella Korf, age 82, went to be with her Lord Friday, August 1, 2025. Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Jay Korf; parents Marinus and Alberta Bloemendaal; brother, Bob Bloemendaal; grandson, James Sinke. She will be remembered by her children Brian (Julie) Korf and Ross (Sherry Morrison) Korf; grandchildren Kara (Camden Guzman), and Skylar; great-grandchildren Adrianne and Allie; brothers (Louise) Bloemendaal and Pete (Beth) Bloemendaal; all of the amazing nurses and fellow sunsetters at Sunset Manor; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ida and Harold started Ida’s Pastry Shoppe together in January, 1981. Harold would bake at night and Ida would decorate and run the store during the day. Ida touched many lives with her beautiful gift of decorating wedding, birthday, special occasion cakes and cookies. She was named 2001 Woman Entrepreneur of the year from the 89th House District. Ida enjoyed knitting, crocheting, singing (sometimes in Dutch), watching the boats in the pier, listening to band music, coloring, gardening, and red geraniums.

Visitation with friends and relatives will take place from 5-7 p.m. Monday, August 11, 2025 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. A celebration of Ida’s life will commence 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building). In honor of Ida and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sunset Legacy Foundation. Interment will be at Georgetown Cemetery.
