Ila May Pechumer, age 76, went to be with her Lord Monday, February 24, 2025. Ila was preceded in death by her parents Willard and Maxine Pechumer; siblings Willard Pechumer Jr., Martha Pechumer, and Skipper Pechumer. She will be remembered by her siblings Don (Vicki) Pechumer, Chris (Joe) LaMore, Susan Meyer, Kathy (Bob) Brix, and Robert Pechumer; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ila, who was lovingly called May, was always with knitting needles in hand or in the middle of crafting something. She always had a hug, advice, or a joke ready. May had dreamed of becoming a missionary nurse in Bangladesh, which she was able to do until illness sent her home. Upon her return, she became involved with Women’s Mite which sends supplies to Bangladesh. She will be missed immensely.
Visitation with friends and relatives will take place 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025, with service immediately following, at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. In honor of Ila and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Women’s Mite, c/o Good News Baptist Church, 6830 Eastern Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508.
